Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to do this & how is this different from other styles I’ve tried?

Most everyone can do Svaroopa Yoga. In this practice, we teach you how to use various props, and precise alignment to support your body in each pose. We are able to meet you where you are at, as a beginner, and help deepen your practice as a continuing student. If you are dealing with pain, or chronic illness, please discuss your needs with the teacher, so we can best support you. Poses can be modified, and substitute poses may be offered for gentle students.

What do I need to bring?

All props used during our classes are available at the studio. You are welcome to bring your own eye pillow if you have one, and a water bottle. And, feel free to bring a friend, just check with the teacher to confirm space is available.

When can I start taking classes?

You may start any time during a session. Our rates will be prorated accordingly. Each class offers instructions for all poses.

What happens if I miss a class?

Please call and inform the instructor. They appreciate the advance notice, and we can get you scheduled for a make up class. If you are unable to make up a missed class, you may apply that credit to a private session. We are unable to transfer missed classes to upcoming sessions.

If you need to make up a class, please call ahead to make sure there is room, and the class is being held.

Can I start mid-session?

Yes, you may start at any time. The eight week session is a calendar 8 week period. We will pro-rate if you join mid-session.

What happens if I am running late?

It’s ok to join class. We begin each class in Shavasana, so please be respectful of the other students, and enter peacefully. You may sit quietly, and settle until we begin the poses.

What should I wear?

Anything that is comfortable for you that moves freely. You may want to wear layers, as your body temperature can change during class.
